  • Will these work ? Is it an option ?

I came across these when searching tires, they look like they might work, they come in the same size as the original Argo tires (22x10x8) so I am thinking they might fit on argo rims? If so, would they swim at all ? Ideas Anybody ?

These are sort of similar to the tread pattern on the Maxxis 4-snow tires, and if I remember right they didn't swim well on most machines.

No direct experience with the Kendas though....

Bike Bandit will not ship those to Canada for you. Here is a better option for you Kris (link below). I was looking for tires last year and powersportsplace could not be beat for cost. It cost me less than 1/2 of what the local Argo dealer could do for me and we have a good and long standing relationship. PowerSportPlace ships to Canada via UPS so you don't pay any extra brokerage fees. My total cost was $721 Canadian for 6 new tires delivered to my driveway in Pickering.

Hey, kris I always suggest the duro HF 243 tires but they don't swim so bot good for you. Get those at 101 they are good and they swim so I think they would be good for you.i always wanted the new argo tire but not st this price

They're soft enough George. Hard enough to not be rolling sidewalls in the turns and soft enough to hit the tabletop without too much regret. I've transitioned to AT101s on all the racers.

They swim pretty decent for their size, I would guess probably a lot better than the Maxxis pattern.

The Duro HF243 is the same tire as the Carisle Striker, they are really hard steering on an Argo. I had them and also tried the Kenda Bear Claws that have a very similar pattern. The Bear claws swam a little bit (very, very slowly) and were better in the mud but were they were just too agressive.

So... I almost bought 6 used tires today. The owner wants $600. For them. I saw a pic, it was a little grainy and hard to tell but they looked about as good as my already beat tires.. Plus it's a minimum of 2 hours of driving to get them so you factor in half a tank of gas to the price and it's not much of a deal. If i did my math right , i can do 8 new tires of the AT101's for $960. Canadian so i guess thats the way to go. I hope they fit on my 8" rims. The only thing im a little apprehensive about is, once I pull the trigger and switch to those tires I can never use any of my old tires as spares or "backups."

The AT-101s will fit your 8" rims no problem and I wouldn't even worry about spares when all the tires on your machine are now. A worst case scenario with a flat in the wood would consist of swapping a flat corner tire with a middle tire until your back to your trailer. Get the new tires and list your 8 used ones on Kijiji as decent rollers if thats what they are. The AT-101s have a decent bar lug with good traction caracteristics in the mud and sand, they really are a good tire.

Hey Steve, questions.... What are the chances my standard plastic argo snow tracks will work on the at101's ? They are really close in size to the other ones.
&.. If you had to choose between new tires or chains.. Which would you do first ? Im leaning towards chains & doing tires after..

The plastic tracks are designed for 21x10 tires. In fact, these runamucks.
For me here in the US those came to just a little over $600 with shipping. They say they ship to Canada which is probably more expensive but $600 US is shy of $800 Canadian so maybe a good deal.

Oh yeah, I would choose chains. Both ground you actually, but running with bad chains wrecks more stuff along the way.

Hey John, thanks for the post. Thats the best price ive ever seen for Runamuck's! I did the math using their Canadian shipping cost page on their website and a current conversion calculator online, if I did it correctly then seven tires ( I have one new tire purchased last year) works out to almost the exact same price as eight of the other ones I was looking at. However using the Runamuck's I won't have to worry about my tracks fitting or changing of the tires to make them fit etc. All of this is stressing me out a bit because I have sold some of my favourite possessions to fund Argo repairs, and I really WANT new tires however I know i really NEED new chains... LOL .....ARRGGGHHH !
