  • 93 Max II Tire Upgrade?

I have a 93 Max II with stock tires. 40% of my property is wet lands, swamp and lake area. I was looking at tracks, but I think a upgrade to a larger aggressive flotation tire may offer the greatest versatility and performance.

My question is: What 22" or 23" flotation tire is the best swimmer and for wet lands, swamp, and off road, mostly woods? Swimming is very important.. Also I assume that the 8" rims offer greater flotation due to the smaller size?

    Your thoughts? Thx Mike

What size motor do you have and do you have solid axles? You may be able to fit some larger tires, that's why I'm asking. If you stick to 21-22" tires, the 22" Rawhide III is a good all-around tire but it won't be great at any one thing. It gives ok water speed and decent off road performance. The 21" chevron tires will probably give you the best water speed in that size range but sacrifice off road capabilities. The Vendettas from Mudd-Ox are offered in 21" now but I don't think I've heard anyone post about their performance on a Max II. You can fit the 24" Argo Carlisle tires which are fast in the water but some members have had problems with the durability of the tires. You can also squeeze in some 25" tires with some modifications to your tub. The larger tires will require more power and solid or splined axles.

If your wet lands and swamp areas are really nasty, thick mud, you may still want to consider tracks. You can run tracks over the 21" Vendettas or the 21" Carlisle Chevron variants.

Thx, 18HP and no solid Axles... I was looking at the 26x14x12 Vendettas? But it sounds like you are telling that may be too much tire?

Mike, the Tracks I was looking at were the ones sold by Matt over at Muddox, 15" Rubber with the ripsaw design for the Max II, Your thoughts? I already saw the composite vs. rubber discussion.

The 20x11x8 Goodyear Rawhides that I have are still in good shape.. My additional performance may come from the tracks, not larger tires at this point? Either way I want to purchase ASAP.. Thx Mike H.

The 26 14 12 tires will not fit on a max II i beleive the axles are to close together and they will rub the body. Tracks are probably your best bet. I have a complete set of 22" rawhide III's if you decide to go that route pm me.

Like miller_time mentioned, 26" tires are not possible because of the axle spacing. Some smaller 25" tires are the biggest that you can fit. If you aren't upgrading your axles then I would shy away from much bigger tires. Even tracks may give you issues with hollow axles. I have never used tracks so I can't comment there. Do you already have the bearing cages for your Max or will that be something that you will purchase when you buy the tracks?

This may be a good option for you, I would talk to the gentlemen personally if possible and ask a lot of questions.
Read the ad it tells you things that should be known, and the machine sounds decent though it may need a freshening.

These are the waffle style track so less aggressive than the ripsaw style yet should be more forgiving, and comes with the 22's also.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                  Joe Camel never does that.
