tires for water

I have a carlisle tire on my conquest that only moves my argo backwards when in the water, dosen't matter if I'm in forward or reverse......? Anyone know what going on here? What is the best tire for swimming these things.

You asked for the best tire and this would be the tire that comes stock on the Argo Frontier . This tire gives an exellent ride , and is fast in the water . There is only one tire that is as fast in the water as the Frontier tire , and that is the 26 inch Terra tire made by Good year . This tire is optional on a Max IV 6x6 . The Frontier tire is quite costly at $120.00 plus a pop , and they are in VERY HIGH demand right now , because of what I stated . The people that have put the Frontier tires on their Argo Conquest say that these tires make their Argo 8x8,s much more capable , and they can now go places that they could,nt before .

Thanks, I pretty much gathered that the frontier is the way to go from all the discussions on the website. I plan on ordering some soon. I am still curious as to why the machine only goes backwards in the water.......Its confusing I don't get it. Also should tires be run backwards or frontwards?

Paul, you should run your tires backwards. Check the gallery for some pictures of other AATVs and you can see how their tires are facing. If you haven't done that, try it first and you may get a little water speed. Which Carlisle tires do you have?

I believe they're the chevron tire, I did try them both ways and didn't notice a difference in the performance in water.
