I am trying to recover 2 good flotation tires from a broken machine. The stud bolts are spinning on the 3 bolt hubs. When I turn the nuts, the bolt also spins. I really want to save them, but it is difficult to work in that tiny hub. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

cut the axles off between the tub and tire... at least then you can throw them up on the workbench and see what's going on. you then might be able to cut the backing ring out (with some nasty air tools and a lot of cursing) and get a mig welder down in there to lock the studs back in placeA well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

floatation/baloon tires
Just chistle off the nuts....easy...while the tire/wheel is still on the machine, saves loss os an axle

Thanks for all of the advise! I pulled the engine and tranny out, and tipped the machine up on its side. I could see what the heck is going on in there. Sharpened up a chisel and the nuts split fairly easy. Saved the two flotations! I now have 4 holding air!
