I was wondering if anyone has ever made up hub caps that actually seal up the rim? As is will hold air in and water out while swimming. I know it would only be a small amount more flotation but but would also eliminate the drag and weight of the water in the rim? Is this crazy talk or does it make sense. I may pull a rim off and make something. Give it a shot. Thanks. Zach J.

Hub caps/sealed rims?

It's not crazy at all, I've considered doing the same thing myself before. Especially with larger rims that "little" space can float 30-50 pounds each!
Best way would just be a foam insert I'd think. With a hub-cap cover.
Or buy off the shelf solution. (not streamlined but other AATVers have used these with favorable results Jwheelz - a new bolt-on attachment for ATVs and UTVs

I like the foam insert idea. Something that fit snug so you could just knock it in and then pry out if you wanted to access the lugs or valve stem. Otherwise I was thinking a aluminum disk with a rubber gasket and a hole in the center. Then weld a nut to the center of the axle hub that would could thread a bolt/threaded rod into in order to secure the cap.....? I spend more time "improving" my machine than I ever spend "using" it!
