  • Can you wear out a set of rubber tracks?

I know all things wear out but has anybody worn out a set of rubber tracks?

I have seen many sets of rubber tracks on small construction equipment worn and broken but can’t recall seeing a worn down to the nub set of tracks on an Argo or other XTV?...

And if you did wear out a set please elaborate on hours/machine/terrain!

Anything rubber on a vehicle that makes ground contact will wear out. Depends on how the operator treats his equipment as well...if someone was running rubber tracks on asphalt year round, I dont think they would last 100 hours. On the other hand, if you use the tracks selectively (mud/snow/ice/soft leafy woods) I’ll bet they would last a lifetime!

We got rubber tracks with our Argo HDI 750. Then we switched to Adair. The rubber tracks were only used about 5-6 times but they look brand new.
I think it would be hard to wear them out!

Of the machines i have had in my shop a few had over 10,000kms @ 1000hrs with rubber tracks, well over 75% lug left on them.
The guides wear thin but the rubber keeps going.
