Can you tell me what this broken track part is called?

Looking to get 3 or 4 of these cast aluminum pieces, but first I need to know what they are called. Likewise, if you know of a source or alternate thing I can use, I would appreciate the info. Thank you!

The correct name/term for the cast aluminum piece in your photo is "Aluminum guide for accessory track pre-1999 models" or just simply "Aluminum track guide" per the legacy Recreatives Industries parts list. The part number was 40140. They were called track guides because they guide the tires to stay inside the elongated "U" shape so the tires stay inside the track and don't walk off the track. Post 1999, Recreatives switched to the solid rubber snowmobile track with separate aluminum guides on the left and right side of the track - imagine your aluminum guide with about 8 inches cut out of the middle, and your are left with the angled aluminum nubs that contact the left and right sides of the tires. This was a better design because the older, full width aluminum guide could break, as happened to yours.

Grousers refer to traction aids - these would be the steel angle-iron pieces on the outside of your track that contacts the ground, although Recreatives invariably referred to them as "steel track cleats" or simply "track cleats"

I believe the newer track guides 40123 will replace the missing pieces ok. They will rivit through the metal cross piece. The long one piece ones are only available used. RI discontinued them many years ago.

i have made my own tracks ... and made the '' guides '' out of 3/8 '' metal flatbar that worked very well. since you have other guides on the track , it should be easy to bend the shape . round the ends and bolt on. you could use aluminum flatbar also . you just need a hacksaw or sawzall , cut the length , bend and bolt on. maybe this will help , good luck . johnboy va.

p.s. use a round head stove bolt with the round head on the tire side of the guide . j.b.

i'm sure you will find it's not too difficult . 3/8'' thick metal flat bar x the width of the existing guides should be pretty easy to bend in a vise . maybe a couple of pictures after you finish . thanks , j.b.
