These tires have my attention for my Hustler 980 Bigfoot. They look very Vampireish??? but cheaper and available. I'd most likely be after the 26x12x12. They look to weigh about 32lbs each which I believe matches very closely to the Vampires. I saw a older post about them but I'm not sure anybody ended up running them. Seems that they would swim as good as Vampires and maybe a guy could run a axle or two of them backward. Any ideas? Thanks!

I believe someone tried these tires a while back and they mostly just churned up water. The Vampires are proven swimmers. I think there are some videos of them in action somewhere on the site.

I see. Not being able to swim would be down right embarassing. I think I'm going through what alot of guys have been through before. I'm needing new tires but can't hardly stomach the expense of it. Leads me to look for cheaper alternatives. Thanks!

        Vampires or Rawhides

I've read every thread about tires on this forum in the past few days. The conclusion I've came to, there are only 2 tires that swim decent: Vampires and Rawhides. Someone please chime in and correct me here if need be.

Don't forget the Goodyear Terra Grips, Carlisles, Argo Frontier tires, and any brand of ditch witch style tires (there are several brands)

            Sandcassle,

Another proven ATV tire that is known to swim , is the discontinued Vampire ASX. Jpswift, Don ,and Menfield , have all bought them for their Hustler Bigfoot,s. Jpswift says they swim faster than the 25 inch Good year , rawhides on his Hustler Bigfoot ,and they mud twice as good too.

I stumbled across the Duro tire website looking for ditch witch tires. Has anyone looked into their Excavator, Mud and Sand, or Ditch Witch tires? They seem cheaper than many others in their style but I don't know about swimming.

Duros look interesting. The HF-255 seems like it might be a swimmer but I sure don't know. Looks like my size is about $76 each from tires unlimited.

                  cclingma ,

Another thing to think about when considering a tire to use on an amphib is how it will effect the ride quality. Tire design ,side wall flex, rubber compound , tire ply, and tread pattern ,all relate to the ride quality of an amphib. Ditch Witch type tires I imagine will ride very rough because of their stiff side walls. Members on the forum that use the Vampire TSL tires on their amphibs, like them because of their soft side wall design, and exellent ride.

                        SWAMP HAWG

Yes they do, though not fast,,but just enough to get you across a still pond. Wildtexasranger has them installed on his older Max II. The Mud Bug tire comes highly recommended on the High lifter atv forum. It is praised for its light weight , durability, and exellent traction in mud.

                              Jpswift,

The website you posted shows the wrong tire as the TSL Vampire. The tire they have listed as the TSL is really the EDL.

This website shows the TSL Vampire at the top left , and the 28 inch EDL Vampire on the bottom right. The TSL looks different from the EDL.
