  • BKT Wing Mud Tire

    Hi,
Has anyone ever tried/seen these tires?

eBay Motors: 22x11-8 BKT Wing W207 Utility ATV UTV Mud Tire New (item 180319160060 end time Feb-06-09 11:35:37 PST)

They look like a pretty agressive, cool tire... 6 plies!

That looks like another version of a very common tread design:

    C9208 Sur Trak

True, the tread design is similar, but the Sur Trak only is a 2 ply, and the Duro doesn't list the 22x11x8 size.

The ply rating is pretty huge to me since I keep puncturing my Frontier tires. I think I have one left that is NOT punctured... lol.

I also like the sidewall of the "wing" tire.
      Thanks!

Silverbullet, you need to get som Vampires for your Frontier! With all the talk about the Vampires and with DerekF putting some on his Avenger (and loving them), I keep thinking about them on my Frontier. I need you to test them for me!

          bcsteve ,

The Vampires don,t swim very fast , but , they will get you across a still river or pond. Since they have soft side walls,,the Vampires ride REALLY good at 2 psi. They are also a LOT more puncture resistant than the fronteer tires ,and the traction they give climbing up a bank out of the water is exellent. bonscrshr loves his.

Here is a video clip of the forum member boncrshr , in his Hustler 950 , swimming across the Sabine river.

Yes, there's some pretty impressive video of the Vampire. Realistically, I only have 60 hrs on my Frontier and my tire are pretty still like new. It's still fun to think what tires I'm going to put on next.

I'm hoping with the rumors that Goodyear is no longer making the Rawhide III and that since Argo is producing their own design that maybe eventually Argo will be making their own Avenger tire as well. A 12-13" wide Frontier type tire would awesome on Avengers and Frontiers.

I haven't put many hours on mine either... I'm at 50 hrs as of last weekend. I love to buy ATV/UTV magazines just to go to the tire ads! I'm glad that a lot of people on this site discuss different options for tires and tracks, etc. It helps me make or halt decisions. I wanted tracks, but after getting advice from many on here that it would not be an advantage in the desert, I halted that train of thought. Tires on the other hand are still in the back of my mind. Tread on the Frontier tires is at about 95% probably. But I just keep wanting a more bullet proof tire. The Vampires look wicked! Do they make them for 8" wheels? (That's the other thing... I don't want to buy any other wheels).

With the frontier, you could go with Matt's 9" beadlock wheels and any 25/26 inch tire. I wouldn't take the frontier tires off the rims, 'cause you'll probably go back to them after your tire experiments For sand and gravel, nothing will bite well, not dig a hole, and turn as easy as them. Not to mention ride quality.

I don't know of any 8" tire that is as tall as frontier tires. Besides that, none of them will stay mounted at low psi on argo wheels. 9" wheels and tires add a LOT of weight. BUT go ahead and buy Matt's wheels and a popular tire. You can always sell here.

i have 150 hrs on my bigfoot. put 30 hrs on since i bought it this fall. I have 3 sets of tires for it. 24X12X8 rawhides, 24X12X8 ITP, and 22X10X8 runamucks. the itp have sidewall damage so i have not used them yet. i like the rawhides, and the runamucks i save for the tracks. looks like i dont need new tires soon but it is nice to see what is out there, and how others like them.

I think side lugs are awesome on any tire....

6-ply tires sound good in theory, but my Kenda Bearclaws rode rough!! You could feel gum wrappers when you rode over them.

I LOVE my Vamps...but I am really upset with Interco for moving production to China....If I could not find a superior alternative, I would definitely get them again.

                        tires

I feel the same way about the frontier tires. I want a tougher tire too. I slimed all six of mine and punchered one real good . So i bought another $135.00. Just think i'll keep a tire repair kit and my spare with me all the time. I play in the rivers and creeks alot so i dont want to give up my water speed.I was looking at(nanco) nankang atv mud and sand tires. They come in 22x11x8 & 22x12x8 they are 4 ply so they should be a little tougher.Anybody run these??
