I have been reading alot of tire postings here..Great info.I am relatively new to the Argo world.I recently purchased a 8x8 Response.I am 750 km away from the nearest Argo dealer and I am having trouble finding any kind of tire locally..

As anyone ever tried the Carlisle Stryker 22-11-8...It is the only tire that I can find locally plus it is very reasonabally priced. I am not interested in swimming just transportation back and forth to the cabin... oh and not running tracks.

Also is there room to upgrade to a 24 instead of 22" tire if I wanted a little more ground clearence..My friend has an Avenger with the Rawhide III...Wow..It will do circles around mine..Tires make a huge difference..The extra ground clearence on swampy terrain seems to make a huge difference.

Will be posting a few pics soon..

    Thanks

The Stryker 22" is a great replacement tire for ya and cant beat them for the cost, you have room for 24"s but i think they take a 9" rim

      Hi RS
There is room to upgrade your tires, but make sure to measure the OD of the tires you are wanting to try. If they are over about 23 1/2" you WILL have trouble mounting them (Theoretically, your axle C-C should be 24", but I bet that if you measure all of them, you will find that a couple are a little closer). In my experience, Carlisle is not known for symetry, they seem to think that anything that's not square, must be round. lol
Also, if/when you put larger tires on, you will have to pay close attention to your axle brngs and change them at the first sign of failure. If you do pile a brng with larger tires on, they will rub togeather very badly.
I run 24" Frontier tires on my Conquest, and I can tell you......I would not have it any other way now. There are some definate advantages to larger tires

You won't be able to turn your Response into an Avenger, trust me, I've been trying to do the same to my Conquest (if you do, could you please tell us about it). However, there are a few things that you can do that will help (Larger tires is a good start). With the larger tires, you will notice a coresponding drop in HP, and may want to do a little clutch work to compensate.

      Hope this helps a bit,

      RD

Thanks for the info..One more thing though..Has anyone tried swapping front and back tires only with a little more aggressive tread but same size of course and leaving runamucks in the centres..ie a Stryker..I know there may be a little difference in size due to manufacturere specs. Logically this could seem like an idea as pulling out of holes and then backing out seems to be the biggest opstacle ..Is this a no no to mix tires..Trying to explore different options as the runamucks are in great shape but no tread pattern for mud grip which is where I spend most of my time.

        Thanks in advance..

Old thread I know but I am also curious if you could run 4 new tires (Stryker/Duro's) and 4 old runamuks on the machine?
Are there any potential issues doing this? Any particular positional arrangement that would work best?
New tires on the corners and old in the middle or another combination?

          Thanks
