  • Best tires/tread for use in water

A search of the archives here seems to indicate that the preferred tire set up is the 22" Goodyear Rawhide III's mounted on K-lock wheels. I have a cottage on a very slow moving river and hundreds of acres of backwater/swamps. I want to equip my terra tiger with the tires that offer the best propulsion in water.

Below are the tires that came with the tiger and my thoughts are that these may be the best option. Money is tight, but since my sons will be driving this, money will not be an issue. I want the best tires that I can buy with a preference for tires that are good in water vs made for land, climbing, etc.

Further below is another idea from the archives. It is brackets for an outboard motor. Does anyone have any input on mounting an outboard to these machines? I am not looking to move exteremly fast, but would like to cover at least a 1 mile square area that is equal parts water and land.

The chevrons that you have on there will be fine in the water and will definitely move faster than the 22" rawhides. I would say that the tires you have will probably be the fastest of any that you can find under 22".

    Go have fun!

The tires on the green AATV are on backwards, and wont swim. I just bought an argo, and the wheels were wrong too. Easy fix. Find uneven terrain pull your atv over it change the wheels from side to side. Grease the fittings behind the wheels while you have them off.

My advice on the tires would be the Titan Realtor sport, if you can find them.

Hey I'm New To This Site And Just Bought A 1996 Argo Conquest
And Have Been Looking At Different Tires. The New Argo Factory Tires Look Ok For Swimming But Just Wondered If There Are Any Better Choices Out There Thanks Again, Jim

I would recommend 24" Frontier Tires for your Conquest. They are a very tight fit, but they work very well for the terrain I run. Lots of swampy, Boggy, Muskeg type trails around here, and the Frontier Tires seem to be the best swimmers.
One thing though, you will not be able to fit tracks over them.

Can you recommend where I can get the 24 Frontiers? Thanks

My suggestion would be to add a seperate (deep Cycle) battery and use a decent trolling motor for what you have described. It's lighter, cheaper, and more compact. There are links on this site of setups that the members have.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

you might need something at the bottom end of your motor to keep it from twisting your upper mount.
