  • GBC Gator tires??

I got my 2004 Argo avenger home tonight. It came with a full set of GBC Gator ATV tires ATV Tires, ATV Mud Tires, Gator ATV Tires, ITP tires, ATV Sand Tires, Discount ATV Tire, GBC ATV Tires, 4 Wheeler Tires, Four Wheeler Rims, from TiresnStuff.com as well as the Argo tires. If I put all of the gator tires on how should I orientate the tread? On most farm equipment the lugs sweep back so they clean themselves but on Argo's the lugs sweep forward I assume for swimming. By the way this thing swims horribly. Almost no control and wants to go in circles.

You are correct for the swimming the top of tire has to be Front)))Back If it is Front((((Back on top of tire treads then it will be better in mud but wont swim. Some people swap them around with front one way, rears other for traction both ways. If you do a search you will probably find out some post on that and what works or not. I dont get stuck in mud and like swimming speed so I always run it with the v shape so it scoops the water.

If it is going in circles with an argo you can have problems on one side. If it is turning left, check left side(or vise versa) and make sure the tires are spinning. If not spinning when you should be going straight then you may have bad bearings, chain issues, dragging brake....something restricting that side.
Also, you have to balance the machine level in water to go straight. Leaning with a turn greatly helps on turn it in water too.

Good luck with it, those are great machines!!!

yes it does if you wan't to swim put your argo tires back on faceing backwards , opposite of farm tires if they are rawhide III .if they are the new argo tires run them like lewis . and it will swim at 3.5 mph . robbie . you might want to put your gators on back wards and see if they swim . larry is right
