  • 26" inch interco Vampires on my Max IV

I have been hearing so much about the swimming ability of the interco Vampires that I decided to buy two them and put them on the front of my Max IV to test them out. I decided I would try the 26" size because I figured they would run true to size on the MaxIV rim. They arrived two days ago and I can tell you these are one heavy tire (33 pounds each) with heavy duty side walls and big lugs spread way apart! I mounted them on the rims yesterday and sure enough they were exactly 26" tall on the MaxIV rim with only 3 PSI. Once I got them mounted I went right into the pond in my back yard for a little water speed test! Since I don't have a gps I can only judge but all things considered I would say that my water speed dropped just a little! I guess the Swamp Foxes swim even better than I gave them credit for! In any case the test was run with all tires about three psi and I know that my swamp foxes swim better with a little more air so I'll do more testing. I will say this though, those Vampire tires really bite when you come out of the water. I believe that they will be a little better in the mud than the Swamp Foxes, but I am not sure they will not be as good all around trail tire as the Swamp Foxes! I will keep you posted as I find out more!

    MightyMaxiv ,

Dan , if you want more water speed , I,d mount the 26 inch Vampires on the front of your Max , facing forward , and the Good year Terra tires facing backwards , on the middle and rear set of tires . I use this same combination on my Max IV,, the only difference being , I have Gator tires facing fowards on the front. I have about 3 mph water speed with this tire combo ,with the front gators at 5.5 psi and the middle Good years at 5 psi. This combo has great digging power for coming up wet and muddy creek banks.

With the Vampires on the front of your Max IV , with the combination I just mentioned , your water results and mudding ability should be even better than mine .

      tires

Do these tires make your machine hard to turn I have heard that aggressive tires make the machine very hard to turn.

I have had 27" swamp fox plus tires on the machine almost since it was new. I took the goodyears out a few times and got stuck several times in what I would consider easy mud conditions. Goodyears came off Swamp foxes went on and great AATV riding every since with the Max rarely getting stuck and when it does it is under very extreme conditions!!!! Now to answer your question. I have the 27 horse Kawasaki engine and I haven't experienced any problems turning. As a matter of fact I think it turns very well and doesn't seem to put any undue stress on the frame or drive train! Since the Vampires are so hard they actually seem to skid steer a little better than the swamp foxes.
I am going to post this video so you can see for yourself how little effort it takes to skid steer this machine. (P.S.-I think the 26" Goodyears were actually harder to turn than the Swamp Foxes!)
