Check these out. I went and picked up another Terra Tiger today and it had two of these FAT CAT brand tires mounted on the back. I have never seen or heard of these before and there is nothing in the archives that I can find. They are in very good shape with no weather checking, etc and they are the same mounting as normal balloon tires. Does anyone know any back story related to these? On the sidewall, it says FAT CAT - BF Goodrich CANADA.

These are very cool tires first of all, and just as the information on them shows, they were made by the Canadian division of BF Goodrich. They were actually original equipment tires on a few early second generation Attex 6 wheelers. One of my ST/400 Attexes has a full set of BF Goodrich Fat Cats on it, and 6x6World member Groundhog has a full set on his Attex Wild Wolf as well. These tires pretty much bolted up to standard 3 bolt hubs since the bolt pattern was the same, but the hubs themselves for these tires were longer so the circular metal piece on the back of the hub could support the center section of the balloon tire/hub assembly.

Interesting fact I found out is I have a few fat cats that buggyman gave me that are normal sized. So just because they say fat cat that dont mean they are a FAT cat.
Personally I hate balloons but if I could find 6 fat fat cats I might think different. They seem like they would be cool!

It takes a little extra power to turn them because they're so wide, but it is a lot of fun to drive with them on your AATV. My ATTEX st/400 with the wide Fat Cats makes the machine seem just as wide as it is long. And they ride right up, almost like they're floating on top of just about any terrain, especially snow."Looks like you have a problem with your 4 wheeler........you're missin' two wheels there"

I had a Chief with a full set of wide Fatcats on it and never got to run the thing before I sold it. I was always wondering what it would have been like. I've seen some Canadian BF Goodrich tires with the "Fatcat" logo on the side, but they were standard width tires. Any idea what the difference was between them and the BFG "High-flex"? They look about the same.Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.
(6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
