  • 22x 11 x 8 allrounders ????

    hi
A friend of mine has an argo 6x6 which is almost finished but the question of tyres has now to be solved
Which tyres are a good allrounders swim dirt mud but not in that order
An electric out board will be fitted
To explain swimming requirement ability to swim but speed is not important just some forward motion

The choice is limited due to size and availability in Aust
    Brands available are
    ITP
    cheng shen
    Maxxis
    Swamp fox

    How about
    swampfox 22 11 8 AT 3/4 inch high lug
general reading says that these work far better than bear claw below

Kenda 22 11 8 bear claw 3/4 inch high lug

Both have been written about but it seems that all were refering to the larger sizes eg 26 12 12

Not on your list but I have been happy with my goodyear rawhide terra. The modern day equivalent would be carlisle at101. Mine are 21" but the carlisle I believe are 21 and 22". They mud good, swim good, durable. Some say they ride hard but it does not bother me. I would assume the carlisle are similar. I do think there is more rib on the sidewalls. That may make it swim better? I did out swim another machine with the carlise at101 but we have 2 different machines and that also has a lot to do with the swimming speed. We also didnt have a really long stretch to compare in either.

      Thanks Larryw

I did not mention the at101 as the speed rating is only 10 mph
Carlisle did advise me that early failure would be the result if over speed did occur
Please remember that carlisle did have a chevron until 12mths ago that was speed rated from memory
The at101 is was aimed at the farm industry

The other choice as i just remembered is the stryker [carlisle ]
Although i have been advised that they are now discontinued although i need to check this with usa

      The search goes on .................

Also chasing tyres - got an email back from the Cheng Shen Australian importer yesterday, they no longer import 22x11x8 tyres.
