There are a lot of threads here in the tire forum on the Gators. Use the search and read up on what people have said about it. Here's one to get you started: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/tire-...atv-tires.html

There are also some threads on Duro tires but I don't recal seeing one on the excavator. Just looking at the tread you can tell that it's most likely not going to swim. If it does, it would only move you very slowly.

You can also browse this forum and see other tires and how they are in mud and water. Good luck in your search.

acording to racerone3 these are as good as the argo tires.plus they are a heck of a lot cheaper.they are supposed to be great swimmers and mudders.

Cedar Rapids Tire is Iowa’s largest provider of specialty tires since 1992. We also sell tire chains and parts/accessories.

So what did you find out on tires. I am in the same boat. I need tires for my Conquest. I was looking at the TSL Super Swampers (but from what I have read they don't swim). I also was looking at the Duro Excavators. Any thoughts based on your finding? Have you heard anything about the Super Grip Super Lights?

                  Conquest Tires

I am new to this board (first post) and I too am in the market for replacement tires (Rawhide III) for my 94 Argo Conquest. I spoke with TJ at Cedar Rapids Tire (CRT) concerning a substiture for the Rawhide III. He said many folks were going with Carlisle AT101 tire, 21x11x8. He also talked about a Duro HF-243, 22x11x8. He mentioned that the Duro tire looked good, but he has no feedback concerning the performance on an AATV.

Does anyone have any experiece with the Duro HF-243 tire or does any one have additional suggestions ? I would prefer to go with a 22" tire, ground clearance is major concern with a Conquest.

[QUOTE=JOHNMcDANIEL0322;70528]does anyone know if the DURO EXCAVATOR HF274 or the
GBC GATOR tires are a good mudders and swimmers?

I have experience with the GBC Gators. I have them mounted in the middle of my Max2. They are identical to the Maxxus Mud Bug tires that I have front/back on the same machine but with slightly less tread depth. They are decent swimmers, I've hit 2 mph as measured by GPS in perfect conditions, which is good enough for me.
In the mud they are very, very good tires. They don't dig you into a rut the way the Interco Vampires do. They are six ply but are very easy riding if not comfortable compared to the Goodyear Rawhide 3's they replaced. Price wise the Gators are competitive with most other tires.
I give the Gators an A+ for being one of the best all around tires out there. If I needed a set of tires today, they would be the ones I would purchase.
I have photos in the gallery section. One thing to consider: every AATV performs differently. Hydro-dynamics comes into play with every hull. What works on one machine may not work (swim) on another. You may have to experiment with tire orientation for your machine.
