I think that this tire might even swim better if the short side lugs was removed. This would allow the longer lugs that have a curve on the outer edge to scoop more of the water for better propulsion. Most atv tires do.nt have the desirable V pattern that is most often used for amphibs, but if an atv tire has a curved lug on the outer edge of it, this helps scoop the water and aid in propulsion. This is some thing that MightymaxIV and myself have found out when deciding weither an atv tire will swim or not. The best example of this would be the Highlifter Outlaw tire. This is the best swimming atv mud tire. Because this tire has deep curved ,outer edges , they work like paddles to scoop the water as the tires turn. The down side of this tire though, is that the curved lugs that are able to scoop water for exellent propulsion, also extend too far past the outer edge of the tire. This makes this the wrong tire for any amphib that skid steers. The Outlaw tire is the tire of choice for an amphib that will counter rotate though. I once talked to the sales rep at Hydrotraxx ,and asked him well how the Outlaw tires swam in the water ,since these were the tires most often used on the Hydrotraxx. The sales rep told me that he had sold several Hydrotraxx machines to companies for spraying weeds in lakes. These companies always chose the Outlaw tire over the Rawhide tire because it swam faster in the water. There is a Youtube video to prove this.Last edited by mudbug3; 02-06-2011, 01:34 PM.
