  • Super Swamper Frustration

I don't really know why I'm posting this, other than to vent frustration. Here's a screamin' hot deal (at the time of this post) on some Super Swamper TSL Vampires in the 26x12-12 size. $34.99 each, with shipping included.

    Swamper Deal....

Several websites shared by the same company (just a different front-end name) have had this sale going on for over a month. I placed an order(s) for 14 of them back in mid-January. They didn't have a good idea of when they'd be available, but the company (PerformanceForTrucks.com) called me on two separate occassions to confirm my order(s). Never did they say ANYTHING about the pricing. I was getting frustrated because I hadn't heard any updates on availability, and called them. I was on hold for about 10 minutes when the salesman eventually said that their was a pricing error, and that they couldn't honor the price. This was 3 weeks after I placed my order. I'll forgo all the bad words that followed.

So, I immediately called up the above store (tirepackage.com) that still had the price listed for $34.99. The guy said that it was a pricing error. That was well over a week ago, and the website hasn't been updated. They clearly state that they don't have to honor price misprints. They certainly have to acknowledge complaints to the BBB, which have been filed for each of the Sites.

Great tire. Great deal. Completely BS.

The BBB is BS....it is an organization created by business to police themselves with no athority to do anything. Did they charge your credit card? I would contact the attorney general in the state where they are located...obviously the price was no accident. I have heard of people lately having good luck bashing business on twitter...companies dont like the bad publicity.
Did it ever cross your mind that it might have been Brian sabotaging your progress? I bet he has tires for his already.LOL

I really couldn't do a whole lot more since they never charged my card. I know the BBB won't/can't do anything, but it's something.

The sabotage was a good idea, but we both got boned pretty hard on this deal. He put his order in the week after me, and suffered the same fate.

EDIT: After a very stern, terse message to the salesman today, the price went up to where it "should be". I just clicked and it's been updated.

        Mike,

I feel your frustration. I have had many businesses pull similar crap with me. Although the BBB can't force the company to do anything, I have had good luck getting several(but not all) issues resolved with them. Companies do not like bad publicity, but unfortunately they like taking responsibility for their actions even less. Did the guy try to sell you a different tire, or did he try to just charge you more for the one you bought. If there are bate and switch tactics involved the attorney general's office may be able to help. I personally like posting craigslist ads about poor business practices. It makes me feel good and hopefully helps other people choose not to use a crapy business. Just be careful what you say as to not get any slander charges.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

I am just letting my order ride. Unlike Mike, I never received the confirmation call about my order. Called a week after the order was placed and they confirmed it with no mention of a pricing error. I'm just gonna leave enough coin in the bank to cover it in case the let my tires slip through the cracks. Fingers are crossed. but I highly doubt it will work in my favor.

Actually Jim, it was Hydromike that turned me on to the smokin hot deal, so I'm guilt free on this one

I had something similar occur when I ordered the swamp fox tires for the ATTEX I am working on.. I was dealing with GolfCartTireStore.com - Golf Cart Tires. In this case I actually got charged the correct advertised price on my credit card. but the tires didn't show up after the week i was to wait for them. It did take a couple phone calls to find out that they were trying to get in touch with me to let me know it was a misprinted sale price and they wanted to know if they could do a credit return and cancel my order...

              Umm.... NO!

I too will omit the good bits of that conversation..So I got my tires at the great price and didn't even have to pay shipping. I doubt they would make that mistake if I ordered more sets:
6x6'ers 1; bunk online tire deals.. 150? or so.
Every time I have to push 1... I buy 10 more bullets
