  • Vampire 26" tires

For those of you who are considering big tires for your aatv I would like to make the following comments. I recently purchased a set of 26" Vampires and have been running them on the front of my MaxIV with the 27" swamp fox plus tires in the middle facing backward and 27" foxes on the back facing forward. Heres what I have learned. The Vampires are unmatched for traction and they swim reasonably well. Having just one set on the front causes a little unbalance so I have decided to put a second set of Vampires on the back with the swamp foxes in the middle run at a low air pressure for getting over all the logs and fallen trees in this area. If you are considing Vampires understand that a 26" set aired at 3 1/2 pounds of air will sit 26" high so make sure you have clearance!!! Second these tires are heavy so make sure you have the power to turn them! The side wall on vampires is soft and flexes so the tires may rub the inside of your tub now and again if you don't do something to move them out a little. Finally know what you want here. If you want to do a lot of sport and trail riding (sliding around) for get it! Thats not what these tires are about! These tires are fat and wide so if you want to lower your ground pressure and be able to go through water, mud and impossible situations that no else would think about, these tires are for you! Another advantage is increased ground clearance which seems to make a really big difference in soft mud. Matt O. tested a set of Vampires on his Mud Ox and GPS'ed them at 2 1/2 MPH in the water. Not great but that will get you through the swamps and mud in this area really well. Most of the big mud tires either swim badly or don't swim at all so these will swim and get you through the mud holes that will make everyone else say wow! Hope this helps any one thinking about big tires, Thanks
