  • 25" Avenger Tires

Does anyone know if the Argo AT-189 25" Avenger tires will fit on a hustler 950? I know the distance from the center lines of the middle and rear axle is 27" But will it fit under the tub. Hoping someone might know before I drop a wad of cash on 6 new tires and wheels.

The forrum member Brushcutter has 25" inch Mudbug atv tires on his Hustler 950, so if the tread depth is similar I,d assume that the AT-198 would fit too.

I know that jerseybigfoot has 25x12x9 Goodyear Rawhide IIIs on his 950 and boncrshr has 25x13x9 Super Swamper Vampires on his 950, so I'm guessing that there's probably a good chance that they'd fit.

Do we know the height of the AT-189 tires on the 9" wide rims? Maybe we can get an Argo owner to chime in to see exactly what sort of number we're looking at. The 25x12-9 Rawhide IIIs I'm running on the Tank Trainer (on 9x9 rims) vary between 23.5" and 25"+ in diameter at equivalent psi. There's quite a bit of variability in them. I know I repeat it a lot, but the 25x11.50-9" Rawhide IIIs close in on 26" in diameter, depending on air pressure.

The Argo tires are running about 24 1/2 inches tall and grow when you spin them in the water, the tires can vary in ride height and diameter from one tire to the next.

            AT-189 25x12x9 tires on a 950

I drove up to Lewis' house today and it was time to do some R&D. I borrowed 3 of his AT-189's and we installed them on the right side of the Hustler 950.

(I had a pic of just the AT-189 on the side and I accidentally deleted it)

There is plenty of room between the tires.

There is plenty of room behind the tires to the body side.

The only iffy area is just in front between the tire and body. With air pressure at 3psi there is about 3/4". With air pressure at 5psi there is just enough room to stick a tire pressure gauge.

I believe the best solution is to get the tires and heat mod that front corner where the tire is so close to the tub. Lewis gave me several ideas how to do it. I'll report more later when after I get the tires ordered, installed, and tub modded.

Those 25's look great on your 950! I'd say run them at 2 or 3 PSI and see how it goes. 3/4" seems to be plenty of clearance so you should be all set to go as long as you don't spin them at too high RPMs.
