rubber track restoration

I just picked up a used set of well worn rubber tracks. I was thinking of applying something like rubberized roof coating to preserve the tracks and save them from more wear & tear. Do you think this would work?
I plan on only using them on the ice and snow, no dry pavement, mud or dirt.

For snow, why not bolt this to them 6 x 300' Nylon Webbing - Yellow (Economy) [LDNYLON6300] - $394.56 : Ratchet Straps, Tie Down Straps, E Track Tie Downs, Moving Blankets & Pads, Cargo Straps, U.S. Cargo Control or make a pair of 1000 denier cordura "pants for them, with drawstrings on the sides?
