  • Removing Wheel Adaptors

I'm making 5 lug wheel adaptors for my Attex to allow the use of my Runamuks, etc, all on 5 lug wheels. The 4 lug adaptors have been on since spring 2011,they were generously never-siezed when installed. One rear axle bolt was loose to the point it was about to fall out(next breakdown in the field, lol) and one front broke an axle bolt and fell off at Pine Lake this spring. This is the only reason these two somewhat cooperated in coming off of the axle. As for the other 4,they are liking a little persuasion to get them off. I can just imagine one sitting behind a barn full of water for any length of time, lol.Anyhow, made this "puller" that worked out pretty good.Eliminated all the banging, that's for sure.
Can't find the photos I just uploaded,I'll try to edit post to add them later.

    Joe.

Is it kind of like this, Joe? My dad got me this for Christmas and it's a great tool to have.

    12 Ton Hydraulic Gear Puller

It pulled off the center hubs from a 40 year old Scrambler that had been sitting in a field for a LONG time.

Crikey, that's cool. I've never seen a "hydraulic" one. I have one a lot like Joe's for the old 3 bolt adapters that my Dad made a decade ago. But hydraulic?.....nice.

Nice! Both the home-made and store-bought. I made one similar to Joe's (not as professional-looking) to screw on the end of my slide hammer. Sometimes you end up on the other side of the garage by the time the hub's off, but it works. I'll bet we could really bend up some metal with the hydraulic unit, Jeff!
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

          (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far

Hey guys, if you ever want to play with that hydraulic puller, just let me know and you can take it for a test run. I couldn't believe it pulled that 3 bolt hub off that Scrambler axle. That thing was on there for a long time and it was rusty too.
