  • Massive tracks? Massive ground clearance?

I always laugh when people do this, then I find myself with a slow day at work and doing the same thing.. lol.. whatever

Theoretically, could one run a dual-wheel setup, with extra tall tracks on the outside set of wheels? In my mind it seems that you could run extremely tall tracks on the outside set of wheels as you have no tub or anything to contend with. The machine would rest on the tracks on the outside set of wheels, the inside would almost just be axle protection? Would this bend or put undo tension on the axles? What about with the axle upgrade? Is this even an option? If so, will someone that can afford it please make it happen?

    Thanks

you will definetely need a big powerhouse of an engine to pull all of that extra weight, and some serious mudflaps to shield yourself from the tracks slinging mud and goo everywhere. I think that if you had extensions meant for tracks and then the duals tire setup with tracks on the outter tires, it would create alot of weght, but with some heavy duty bearings, it may just be OK! It would be really wide too!! Great idea thou!!

Most rigs couldnt spin them and/or they couldnt support them. I think my axels would take it. Go look at what i did buddy. If you can think of a way to cheaply, and lightly build them, i may try it for grins. The only draw back is they make the machine wider, and since our rigs float, we dont really need lots of ground clearence. the extra width would also suck on most trials. but it would be cool. keep thinking.
