should the back of the u-chanel be touching the housing? does it rock back and forth on that point of contact? the HMS BeefEater is up and running!!! just need to get the steering adjustments smoothed out.

Yes and yes. Mike did a nice rebuild how to that shows how to adjust the bands. Make sure all bolts are turned the same amount.

The "U" channels pop against the case making an annoying clacking sound and give less precise stick feel. That's one reason why many people prefer the older style transmissions with a factory pivot. I just install the pivots on the "U" channelsIMG_1019.jpg
