T-20 Question??

If my T-20 didn't have ay thrust washers when I dis-assembled it and I ordered a seal kit from RI with them in it, can I install the thrust washers on my T-20 or on my older model of tranny the way it was machined doesn't allow for the clearence of the thrust washers???

Tully, working on 6 wheelers and drinking cold beer is an excellent combination! I was just talking to Whipper, and he told me that his old T-20 that he was working on didn't have thrust washers either. If you were to put the thrust washers on, it might make everything inside the transmission too tight and it wouldn't turn. If the face of the drums where the planetary gears ride looks good, I would just put it back together the way it was, without the thrust washers.

Beer!!

MAN this beer shure is going down good, little ATF fluid on the hands and good old 70 degree weather, what else could you ask for!! From the looks of it I will probally not istall the thrust washers. Another question, is dextron IV the right fluid to use (it says that it replaces III) or should I use something else???

Use just a hair under 1 quart of ATF type F and add about 4 ounces of anti slip differential additive as well. This stuff comes in a tube and is sold at most automotive stores. It will keep the bands from chattering.
