  • 87 ARGO *****GA trans dripping gear oil

Hi just finished rebuilding my argo and doing some test runs around the yard. after doing some laps i looking on the top of the trans there was a couple of tablespoons of trans gear oil sitting on top of the trans that looks like it came from the breather tube/dipstike. i changed the oil during the build and only put about .8 of a quart (from manual) any ideas why its dripping out? is there any known problems ie pressuring issue. I bought the machine in rough shape and only ran it around yard a lap or two before i tore it apart... the hour meter works and when i got it it showed 399hrs now its got 405hrs. any help would be useful!

I have had a few older Argo's,a couple of them did the same thing.I started to use 85-140 and make sure it is not even a little overfull. My 2003 Bigfoot will get wet (damp) with oil on occassion also.
