  • Max t-20 trans

I put a extra half to three quarters quart of
Trans fluid. Drove it for about a hour and took
A sharp right turn. And fluid come out left top seal
And then out right top seal. I lost all forward and reverse
Brakes. Right one works now but left stick has no brake
Yet. I take it that bands must have fluid on them.
Any suggestion to get left bands to brake?????

We need a little more info. Is it a well worn trans? How much fluid was in it before the 1/2 to 3/4 qt was added?
Extra fluid would not make the bands "not grip". Leakage of the excess fluid is normal, and happens when the trans heats up and everything expands.
You may need to open it up and inspect everything.

I just replace stud side of case couple months ago. Put in
One quart in then and was fine nice tight with brakeing
Just heard it gringing a little every once and while so just
Thought it might need little more fluid.

Both sides stoped braking but right is working fine now and
      Seems better than it was

Seems like left side got more fluid on it than right

How much wear material was left on the bands when you replaced the case half? Grinding is often the metal of the band ruining the drum.

I wonder if an anchor point broke. Either the hoop on the bands or the pin that runs through them. Sounds like the bands could have come out too far causing the plungers to come out past the o-rings. That would explain the tranny fluid leaking and the loss of steering. The only hole in my theory would be that you claim the right side started working again.
