  • T 20 Overhaul

    Hi All
Does anyone know where the best place to get a T 20 overhauled? I do not have the time to do it myslef, I believe I pulled the left band attachment pin off doing some stupid stuff with the machine. I pushed really hard forward on the controls and then all I had was right side control.. Once it is opened i would want the whole thing gone through

    Thanks
    Larry

Where are you located Larry? There are several members on here that I'm sure could help you out, but shipping them can be a hassle and big expense....not to mention what happens if you put it in and there is a problem. I have no problem doing that for other members, but you have to think about what happens when the trans is worse off than you thought....or it falls off the truck in shipping. I certainly don't want any hard feelings, so it's best to keep it to local people..... unless there is no one close to you.

Recreative Industries that manufactures the T-20 also services the T-20. I am sure they can make your unit as good as new.

        Hi Jim
I live in Northern Maine. I would have it shipped in a well made box so I would not be concerned about shipping damage. I do fully understand that things can be worse off once you get into it. I am an Aircraft A&P mechanic and seen my share of f$*k stuff that was working "fine"........ where are you located??

Jim is in Michigan. If you are a mechanic it would probably take less time to rebuild it yourself than to build a box and ship it. I know what it is like to not have time. I have 3 kids, 3 dogs, and coach my oldests swim team, but still find a few minutes to wrench. As a marketing rep I am no mechanic, but I have taken a t-20 apart and put it back together several times in a few hours. I am sure you wouldn't have an issue getting it done in your spare time. Maybe just put it next to the toilet with the proper tools and multi task while your ......you get the picture

The T-20 isn't difficult to overhaul. The parts for it are still made today and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

There are a bunch of "how-to" videos that show you how to do it.

I just want to thank everyone for the response. I will prob do it myself now that everyone says it is easy and only takes a few hrs. I was hesitant to do it as I rebuilt my rear end on my vette as I thought it was going to be "EASY" only to remove it and have it re shimmed properly by a expert.I do have a bathroom in my new garage and multitasking seems the way to go...........

              Thanks All

                T20 rebuild

                Hi All
I want to thank everyone on here who has either posted pictures or responded to my past posts concerning the T20. Yesterday I tore down the tranny and it was as easy as I was told. I found 1 band was broke ad everything else looks like new (2000 Max II)
Now I need to buy a new band and I will send the other 3 off to transmission crafters just to be on the safe side as 35 dollars per band is cheap insurance.

Again Thanks to this forum and members
                Larry
