  • Can you ID this?

Just wondering if someone is able to tell me what this is. The transmission is in a 2007 EFI Avenger. Just for clarification it is just underneath where the shift lever enters the tranny housing. Thanks in advance.

Could it be remnants of a trans temp sensor?

Go to the accessory manuals HERE and check out the "668-06 NEUTRAL START KIT.pdf" 17ish from bottom in the right column.

      That's the switch.

errr, I mean the remnants of the switch...

Thanks to both John and Bazoo for helping me ID the remnants of the neutral start switch. Now that I know what I am looking at I will do a little more digging to see if the electrcal is still there. Thanks again.

I bet when it broke someone removed the wiring so that they could still start the machine. I would think a neutral start requirement would be for some commercial/government use so I would guess that your machine had a commercial/government background.

Anyway, if the wires aren't there and you want to add back the neutral start switch it would be easy peezy. There is a green wire coming from your key switch to the starter solenoid. This switch goes in that wire. So, find where the green wire is plugged into the key switch and unplug it. Make a wire (1/4 inch blade stuff, use female/male where needed) that connects from that post on the key switch to the micro-switch and another from the micro-switch to the wire that you unplugged. You want the normally-open part of the micro-switch. It is pretty much always cheaper to make wiring yourself then to buy that from Argo. I see that the switch is $16 (809-202) from Argo (same place where the manuals are linked above) but it looks a lot like THIS SWITCH that can be had for $1.91.

John - You are exactly correct on the background of the machine. It did come from a commercial background. Not too concerned for the replacment of the switch as I am the only operator of the Argo. It just caught my attention when I was doing some work in there. Thanks for the info - great to have the help of the people on this forum. Thanks again.
