  • Clutch question

I was wondering something. I just bought the red clutch spring and new teflon sliders for the clutch on the T-20.

Is there anything I should do to the clutch on the motor? I have no idea which one I have, I am assuming the stock one for the Briggs 18hp. Now that I have the Honda 20hp, are there any adjustments I am supposed to make? Get a new one? Or maybe just clean and lube? Basically just uneducated on this subject...

Hey Boncrshr, I think you can just swap out the spring in the driven cluth on th T-20 and not have to touch the driven clutch on the motor at all. Just be sure to have a good set of snap ring pliers and be very careful when taking the clutch apart because there is a lot of force with the spring pushing in it. You might want to have two people for this job, one to hold the back of the clutch so the spring doesn't shoot it up at you, and one person to take the snap ring off. Let us know how that red spring works for you. I would imagine with that 20 HP Honda, your Hustler would be able to pull or drive through anything in your way.

Cool...that's what I needed to know. Yeah, I was shocked when I saw that red spring...it's really long when unsprung! I'll be careful.
