  • Briggs and Stratton 18hp ic clutch set up?

So I picked up a B&S 18hp ic and I am planning on putting it in my Attex and I have a couple questions about the clutch set up. First off I have a Comet 40 series clutch but I'm not sure if this is a big enough clutch for the application it's rated for 18hp but I'm not convinced. And what color spring should I run in the driven clutch?

The 40 series is a Go-Kart clutch. I don't think you will be happy with it if you CAN get it to work with your secondary. It is meant for a very skinny belt 7/8" I believe, and it is smaller diameter also. Buy a 780 series 302405A-W2 - 780 Series Drive Clutch for Recreatives Ind Max ATVs | ATV Parts | MFG Supply
For the secondary, a yellow, green, or red spring will work. I like the green ones, especially for a 18 hp in a light machine like an Attex. Yellow is the weakest, and red is the strongest. Red would be more appropriate for a heavier machine with lower hp.

Thanks, will I need to get the driven clutch for the 780? I'm working with an Attex Colt and I'm not sure what size belt the driven clutch takes.

Yes. Get the drive and driven. Search the site for belt sizes pay particular attention to the belt width, as it's very important
