    What is the problem?
The most common problem is usually the motor running at too high of an RPM, making the secondary turn, and the trans to grind when shifting.
Is this an Argo, or T-20 based machine?

if it's an Argo, lower the idle RPM, and put it in reverse before shifting into one of the forward gears.

If it is something with a T-20... bumping idle up a bit can help. rock the machine slightly forward and back by shifting your body weight. check for bent linkage...
