  • Need a little help!!!

950 husler-t-20 strans-18hp kolher-22x12.5x8 swompers any time I am going up hill , heavy mud, up loading ramps, ect; the motor is really pulled down and the belt will lightly start to "chirb". It took of the motor cover off and just watched everything. In neutral, slowly reaving the motor, all clutchs work as they should, but under a heavy load "come up out of a ditch" the belt is opening the secondiary half way or more. It is not stay in it's lowest ratio. I beleave I need a new spring or a stronger spring. where can I get one????? How heavy do I go with out losing top end??? On E-bay there are dozens; what will interchange????

Im not sure how your secondary clutch is but I have had some where the spring coils around the shaft. There was extra holes for differant stiffness for the spring tab to go into. So you could coil it less or coiled more making it stiffer which made it shift later. Hopefully yours is that style and you could adjust it. It almost sounds like you might have a broken spring though.

I have not taken it apart yet, but the spring does coil around the shaft. It might be my afternoon project Thank you very much for the info. You may have saved me for buying something I don't need, If all I have to do is make a simple adjustment.

          Hey Russh,

Also, make sure that your belt is in good condition and is of the proper tension. There should only be about 1" of deflection. A worn or loose belt will cause you to lose power also.
          Hammers should have warning labels.

            Brue,
I tried the link or website you sent and it doesn't exist as written. Can you rewrite?

I tried it to and ended up at a auction site, any way I have just replaced the belt a month ago. This afternoon I moved the unit in the shop, at idoal it will try to turn on concrete, but as soon as I tried to give it a little throttle it would "suck" the belt right into the secondairy cluth, opening it right up!!!

You might want to talk with Richard at route 6x6. For a max there are three different clutch springs for the T-20 and three different clutch combinations for the engine. I have the middle red spring clutch in my maxIv. This springs keeps in the T-20 in a low range faster and longer. Talk with Richard and see what he says.

Actually you can just call Recreative Industries and get the springs directly from them probably a bit cheaper. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511

They will help you determine which one is better for your application too.

It's no problem. Try this next time. Instead of typing it in, go to the site that you want to link to. Highlight the whole URL (the http://....whatever.com) by double clicking on it. Or you can drag your mouse from one end of it to the other so that the entire address is selected.

Then hold down Ctrl and hit the letter C. That copies the URL to your clipboard. Then come back here and when you are replying to a post, wherever you want to put the link, hold Ctrl once more and hit the letter V. That pastes the URL to the site. Less work for you and you never have to worry about leaving something out!

                            Good article.

The url seems odd, when you're at the site, there's no www in the address.
