    Hi Chris....

Is this on your Max II? If you want to pull the shifter out to inspect it, disconnect the shift linkage, and remove the stamped steel hold-down that's held on by the two 3/8" bolts. You'll be able to pull the shifter straight up and out of the shift bore. It might be a bit tight on the O-ring, but there's nothing else there to hold it in there. I don't know how old your Max is, but I'm hoping that it's not old enough that it uses the C-clips to hold the shifter down (instead of the stamped steel hold-down that's bolted on the transmission). If you DO have the C-clips, get them out of there by any means possible, bend them in half and melt them down into molten goo so nobody else has to deal with them.

I don't know if anybody else has sourced the shifter pins from anybody else than Recreatives. If it's broken, sometimes they'll come right out, and other times they'll be a real pain. They're hardened, so don't bother trying to drill them out. Let's see where you're at after you complete the above steps...

    Good luck...
