Hi gentlemen. I'm restoring a 72 argo to workhorse status. Fun project so far. Thought i'd share the journey with you all.
First off, i inherited this baby from my hunting mentor who recently passed at 92. Great guy. Amazing man. So, yes, it's sentimental, and i won't be buying a newer machine.
This one seems to be in really good condition. Old, but mostly stored during those years.
She has a Kohler Magnum 20 that runs well, and bearings and running gear all have no issues so far.
I mainly want to mount a winch and use it as a Game retrieval unit. That means climbing steepish hills with 300 pounds of meat on the back.
I'm interested in making sure she has plenty of grunt power in low gear. Might need to add pucks to the Drive clutch (comet duster 94c).
