  • Alone and scared with my T-20

As I'd mentioned before, I bought an 85' hustler that was in fair shape ,except for the transmission. I recieved the transmission in two milk crates where it still remains. The previous owner insured me that all parts were there and i believe they are. My problem is that not one single person in town knows anything about the T-20 and I am a little intimidated by it to say the least. For now I am working on the rest of the machine, starting with the axle bearings, which were not in bad shape, but i would rather replace them now instead of on the trail.I am about to order parts and a manual on the T-20, but i heard the manual may not be very helpful, I hope that it is. Well, I sure would appreciate any tips on rebuilding the T-20. Thanks

There is some good information on this site

t-20, Mike has posted some great information on this transmission.

Who knows you may even find someone on here that is close by you that can help you out.

Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs

      Hey CrazyLegs,

Hilarious title! I picture you and some boxes of parts alone in the dark, Blair Witch style.

Don't be scared, Mike's and JPSwifts article should be plenty to get you going. I was scared too...but I needed to put a seal kit in mine and did so this weekend with the help of those articles...they don't leave anything out at all. I printed them out in their entirety and just followed step-by-step.

If you run into a hitch, just take some pics and the resident experts should be able to hook you up. If you haven't bought your bearings yet, JPSwift turned me on to Buffalo Bearings, triple-sealed outer bearings for 15 bucks.

      Good luck

Don't buy the manual. It is posted here for free on the site thanks to the generous members who send in literature: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/gener...er-manual.html

Like the others mentioned, there is nothing to worry about. Look at that manual, specifically the blow up parts diagram. That should help you see where everything should go. Then follow one of the T20 articles in the how to section that Robio posted.

It really isn't hard to figure out and if you get stuck we will help.

          Crazylegs.
I do have some sympathy for you. I just finished overhauling my T-20 for the first time. It can be a little confusing. Take a look at Mikes pictures, they were a big help.
I do suggest you get a third had to remove the internal "C" clips inside the unit.

          Good luck

            Buffalo Bearings

Whoa... 15 bucks? do they have flanges/seals for the axle bearings too? do they supply bearings for max? (being in Buffalo and all). I need to order a few more soon.

              Hey Tech,

Mine did not come w/the locking collars, but the ones I had were in good shape. I think the Max size bearings are 17. I just got mine in the mail last week, and they looked to be a lot better quality than the bearings I originally put in there. JPSwift may know a little more than me....anyways the number for Buffalo Bearing is 716-874-1721.

I think the Max 62mm bearings are made by Peer and the part number is HC-206 I believe. If you call Buffalo Bearing, tell them that Jeff, the guy with all the 6 wheelers sent you and they will hook you up and give you a nice discount. The Hustler bearings are excellent quality.....some of the best that I have ever run actually. Make sure you ask for the tripple sealed units with the eccentric locking collar.
