  • T20 Bands

Cracked open our extra trans and first off found it full of gear oil. Oh well. I know the band need relining but I have some in question. See pics. Someone welded the one and the other looks to have a bolt through the end and stamped to keep from walking off. Not sure how to actually measure the bands length but I measured from where the bands are spot welded in the ends. 3 of them were 58 /12" and the hacked up one is 57 1/2" Where can I find 1 band for sure and possibly another if the "bolted" band is not safe. Other than the bands the insides look great.

I think I can help you with that. I've got a couple extras laying around that I can bring to Ashtabula with me. Bring the bad ones and we'll match them up.

Sometimes I really wonder what the he11 people were thinking when they did these kind of things.

      Your "questionable" band is JUNK.
The through bolted band: I couldn't tell if the loop had failed and they welded it up or not. Any welding that was NOT done with a TIG welder is ruining the properties of the metal, scrap those bands. If they just put the bolt in, weld it up (TIG) and it should be fine.
