Clutch ID help

    Clutch ID help

    This is the clutch that came with the 20HP Kohler Magnum I just got. The shaft size is 1 7/16". I don't see any brand markings on it. Can someone tell me what it is?

    Will this be compatible with the driven clutch on my Max IV, or do I need to change out one or the other?

    Sorry,I do not know the mfg of the clutch or the compatability with your current driven unit. However,I'm guessing there is an "adaptor" of sorts on the 1 7/16" engine shaft,reducing it down to 1" or 1 1/8".

      That clutch is way away from the engine.

        I think the two replies are related. There is probably an adapter and as a result the clutch is way far away from the engine. I wonder if the extra side load on the engine as a result of the clutch being far away like that will be bad news.

        I got a great deal on the engine/clutch combo and I've already been asked if I want to sell the engine by someone who wants it as a spare for his Bobcat, which is what this engine came out of in the first place. If I can get enough for the engine to buy a 20HP Vanguard, maybe that would be a better way to go for me.

        Any thoughts?

          That may be the way to go, either another kohler or a b&s, I just has a crank cut down to 1 inch but you'll have to pull the crank.

            phabib, I think the fact that the clutch is so far away from the engine it will cause issues with locating it in the machine. I would try and secure the 20hp if I could.
