I am seeking some advanced advice regarding the T20 to help me better understand it. My transmission overall has been working pretty good though lately when making a right turn sometimes it was necessary to nudge the left lever slightly forward to get it to come around hard when braking the right side. I decided to adjust it and have done so following advice posted here on the forum. With the springs unhooked and the hairpins over the adjuster bolts removed I made only very minor adjustments to get identical measurements with a digital caliper and got both sides very very close to each other and the top and bottom with absolute full lever position accurate within a couple of hundredths of an inch. First question is it the bottom plungers when pulled out that are the forward bands? When the channel iron had measurements the same top and bottom my bottom plungers protrude 1/8" on the right side and a little more than 1/8" on the left with the levers sprung forward. With the levers full back the top plungers protrude about 1/4" . What I notice as peculiar is with the levers full back the bottom plungers go inside the case about 1/8" while on the top with the levers full forward on the left side the plunger goes into the case about 1/8" also, but on the right the top plunger goes in noticeably less than the left or the bottom probably less than 1/16",
Condensed questions would be why the difference in left and right plungers on the top when pushed in and why do the top plungers stick out more on the top than the bottom when full levered? I am assuming the bands tighten when the plunger is pulled out. Any sage advice would be greatly appreciated.
