  • My Trans. Design

I have been looking at argos and there transmissions. Cold not help but notice that the admiral is very complex (expensive to build) to not get full counter rotation. So I thought about it and here is what I would have designed. Would have full counter rotation + full 8x8 drive and could be made very compact and strong. The picture is one side of the drive and would need exact same for other side. Would be twin stick drive and steer. Stick would first engage forward or reverse then engage band for drive(could be slipped as to feather counter rotation. Tell me what your thoughts!!!

    That's pretty much a T-20 transmission.

Have not seen the exact opertion of the t-20, but does it not use hydraulic plungers and dual band setup. ( I have never driven or rode in any of these units) I am interested in buying one though

It has dual bands on each side. The plungers are not activated by hydraulics though. You'd be very impressed by what a T-20 can do. Borg Warner spent A LOT of money developing it, and it has been relatively unchanged (except for a few minor revisions) for about 45 years. It's a tried and true design.

Will it counter rotate likei what this fellow appears to want to do?

A hagen can counter rotate is all mechanical with hydro operation of the annular pistons to actuate the clutches and it can be slipped as well!

Seems to be duplicating a hagen with a planetary reduction is all.

              .
Yes, the T-20 will do that, one side will go in reverse while the other side drives forward.

You have to stop and shift into REVERSE one side though correct? This is not an independant thing where pull/push sticks gets you counter rotation?
