  • Clutch installation

Can the clutches be installed backwards? I'm guessing if they can then both have to be. Is this possible and has anyone tried it? I'm trying to figure out placement of a larger engine in a MAX 4.

If you are talking about flipping the clutches 180 degrees, I believe you have to change the ramps and the spring to get the driven to operate properly. There are a few threads about this here in the transmission forum from a while back that can give you a more detailed explanation. Here's one: http://www.6x6world.com/forums/trans...clearance.html

There are a couple of other clutch options out there as well that will buy you some more clearance. There is a Polaris clutch setup and an Invance CVT that both move the belt further inboard. I think the Polaris driven requires a sleeve to fit the T20 shaft. I am using the Invance in my Argo.
