  • driven pully problems

    during this rebuild on my 83 max2 the driven pully stayed open after reven up the motor it is stuck open is this a bad spring? just have to fix one part at a time thanks ART

    Do you see any broken winding's on the spring? Could just be corrosion on the center shaft that the inner sheave is hung on.

        Yes but be careful. Once the pulley is off there is a snap ring on the end. Remove the snap ring and it should come apart. If it doesn't try some lube just make sure when you put it back together that you clean all the lube off. I made a jig to take them apart but I've used a large vise in the past, a second set of hands, long bolt with washers and nut. Just remember that it is loaded with a lot of spring pressure unless your spring is busted.

          If i poke at the center spring it dosnt seam to have pressure on it even though it is compressed if that makes sence to you and the driven pully is in the open position.......
