    Hi everyone
    I finally got my Tricart running (well!) and there are a few problems, most alarming of which is the brakes...there are none. I have a fuel leak out of the petcock that drains into the bottom of the body and continuously lubricates the disc. I can fix that, but is it normal for these types of auto torque converter machines to constantly be "in gear" and rolling forward? I've got the wheels boosted up off the ground, but when running, this thing is taking off, whether you're ready or not! I thought this clutch/transmission/converter set up would only engage at high rpm?

    Hey TM;
    Congratulations on getting the Tricart running- it gives me some incentive to work on mine (sometime). Is yours the JLO 230 or the Briggs?

    The belt on your cart is probably either too tight or too wide. There should be .010" clearance between the side of the belt and the pulley with the engine stopped and the belt at the lowest point.

      How high is the idle ?

        Liflod's got a good point: if the idle's too high or the drive clutch isn't realeasing all the way, it would have the same effect.

          I've had the drive clutch (attached to the engine) freeze . Due to age and lack of lubricaton. You should be able to squeeze the engine clutch together with your hands and it should spring back apart. It may be dry from sitting.

          Terrence, can you take some pictures of the belt and clutch for us?

            Thanks Liflod, I knew you would rid me of my misery! Here are a couple of pics. I can't budge the clutch so it must be frozen. I'm sure you can guess my next question...how do I "unstick" it? Something tells me that removing this thing will result in:
            1. endless frustration ultimately ending in failure
            2. broken tools, stripped bolts
            3. personal injury
            4. NEVER getting it back on
