  • Tranny oil for 06 avenger 3.3 ratio-- best oil ?

Hello all ! Wondering what the feedback is about using the best oil for an 06 avenger with the 3.3 ratio tranny WHAT IS THE BEST OIL TO PUT IN THIS TRANSMISSION ? I don't mind spending a little extra $ on oil that will make all the difference in a healthy transmission thanks for any and all input ,

I'm kind of partial to synthetics as I live in the arctic. They lube in a very wide temp range and you are only looking at a quart. Mobil 1 is usually available.

I am a big fan of Mobil 1 as well. In the engine too. I change my tranny oil more often than needed, but Mobil 1 always looks brand new when I change it.

You will have to find someone well versed in synthetic gear oil but the spec I have used in mineral base is Hypo-C 80W90,I have well over 4K hours on my Avenger Trans with no issues other than a couple leaks now.Mobil 1 makes fine products and I use their synthetic motor oil all the time so as long as you meet or exceed the Hypo-C rating you would be fine.I was also told but this is word of mouth and have no personal experience that the Mercruiser synthetic gear case oil is a very fine gear oil,if anyone could comment on this I would like to hear, this fella long time marine mechanic claims the stress on a outdrive gearcase is large and the volume of oil is small and the gears stand up very well, but as stated word of mouth.NCT

I'm partial to Amsoil synthetics myself and would suggest looking into some of their products. They make a terrific gear oil along with many other full synthetic fluids. They would have something that would be ideal for you.

AMSOIL - Synthetic Oil, Motor and Engine Oil, Lubricants, Air Filters, Oil Filters and Greases

Mobil 1 is a great product as well, however I'm not familiar with how extensive their product line is, as well Royal Purple makes a good fluid too!

Again I'm partial to Amsoil however it's clearly your choice and I'm in no way saying don't buy another brand!

Good luck with your choice and let us know what you do pick.

Thank You All for the input. I thought it particularly interesting that an outboard motor oil might be used, it does make sense but I think I will go with the Mobil 1 synthetic. Thanks again
