  • Comet 780 driven clutch reversal

Is it possible to reverse the driven clutch? is there a kit for that or do you just need to get one made for the opposite direction?
I need to move my belt inboard, so flipping the drive clutch is easy, but the driven is another story.

Anybody heard of or seen this done?
    I know Someone has, maybe?

Sorry, I thought somebody else would chime in. If you find it's necessary for belt alignment issues, you can simply turn the driven clutch around. The drive clutch operates the same way no matter which way it's spun. Attex did this exact thing on the Tomahawk models.

Hey Mike,I think the question is about reversing a Torque Sensitive Driven unit. That's whats got me stumped. Not sure if the helix will function in reverse

Isn't the driven in the Tomahawk photo a "Speed Sensitive" unit?

Oh, sorry; I read the post wrong. I've seen sled clutches mounted in a way that seems like they're driven "backward" when compared to our application, but I don't know if there's a direction-specific helix for those applications.

I think this is a question for Roy at QDS to answer. (626) 293-5770

Yup, driven clutch. Helix and spring would have to be backwards.
I need to move the belt more towards the center because i've dropped the engine right down to the frame. Drive clutch cannot go further outboard, so driven clutch must move in. The only way i see to do it is reverse both clutches. Its easy for the drive, but not for the driven. I spoke to Richard Clark this morning and all he would tell me is "discontinued". No other info.
Maybe i'll just make a helix and spring and be done, but wanted to see if this was a available before i put in the effort.

The cv tech driven clutches are set up with the springs on the outside and moves the ramps towards the t-20. The original tomohawk driven was set up this was as well. If you look in my galleries, you can see the set up on mine. The drive is just put on backwards.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

                      Buggyman,
Can you tell me all I need to know to order this clutch?
                      Thanks, mike.

I guess that would be a question for MattO. I bought mine through Recreatives when still in Buffalo. It was stock on the maxIIs at that time.
