  • Older T20 Question

Hi, I was cleaning the parts for my Popsicle stick T20. I was cleaning the outside drums and noticed that each had a metal thrust washer on the side that rides on the case. Everything I have read says there are no thrust washers in these older T20s. Should I replace these with a new style washers or just reuse the metal ones? I am unable to find a parts diagram that is big enough for my old eyes. Thanks for the help!!!!

I've never seen that before. You can't use the fiber washers on the older units because it causes binding...it was never clearanced for the extra thickness. Use the metal ones or not, it really doesn't matter.

Ive never seen one with just those washers. How thick are they? I've seen newer drums in the older ones but they have the pocket thrust washer in the ringear side. Possibly made during a transition period. Did the output shaft have the input support bearing or just the hole? I've only seen one long input shaft t20 with the bearing in the output shaft.

I checked the metal washer and it is .029", the new washer is .030". I am sure that I can use the new washer. My input shaft has needle bearings on the left side. These restorations are always a learning experience. Thanks for the input..... it is always appreciated. By the way msafi65 I would be interested in a older case if it is in useable condition. Let me know the cost and contact info.

All my old cases need new bushings. I'll sell for enough to cover freight. What zip code would it ship to and I'll look into it.

Postal service wants $70+ to mail in a 12" cube box. Ups and fedex are usually 50% more from here. If you want one let me know. Easy to get be if you text907-388-8582 Mark

Thanks for the info! I have decided to use the case as is after talking to several people. The cracks are in a non stressed area of the case. I do appreciate your time and effort!!!!!
