How much movement is acceptable for a ring gear drum in the case bushing? I have new case bushings but I will have to have a machine shop install them..$$$. I have about a 1/16" play in one case.... almost none in the other case. Help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!!!!!!

As much as I, and I assume many others, would like to see a set of blueprints for a T-20, I never have. What I do know is industry standard for a rotating part in a plain bearing (bushing) is aprox. .001" per side per inch of diameter (up to about 6"). So, from what I remember that boss on the ring drum is about 2 to 2-1/2" dia. which says the bushing I.D. should be .004 to .005" larger than the boss on the drum. 1/16" is about .062". That's a lot for an assembly of this nature.sigpic -
I usually fit mine to about .003". I've measured several with very low hours and find 3-5 thou.Comment

I took the case to a machine shop...they said they can't do the job. Does anyone know a place that can do the fix correctly? I put a dial indicator on the drum and it looks like I have about .010 of play. Thanks again!!!Comment

I sent the case and drum to to Matt at Mudd-ox. He said that they will install the new bushing to factory specs.Comment
