  • Argo Clutch Lubrication

Which parts of the driven clutch assembly would you recommend lubricating, and what would you recommend I use for lubricant? Thinking this might be related to a problem I have with almost stalling when needing low end power (for zero turns and use under heavy load)? Here is a picture of the clutch

Well First off if your looking for Low end torque you want your Driven Clutch closed NOT open.
As far as Lube you want a little on the slides and center shaft so it opens easy. If your Drive is opening to soon then that may be the problem.
It should NOT open till your on the throttle. As far as you can use some Chain lube Teflon spray. Just don't get it in the belt track.

Thanks Wedge. This picture was taken with the machine turned off, does something look odd to you? Sorry for all the stupid questions, but I am very new to all of this. I want to get up to your shop at some point, but my trailer is hosed up right now, so it will be several weeks before I can get that taken care of.

      Thanks.

The belt and clutch look ok to me in the pic. Your brake's are not dragging as far as you know ?
When at idle dose the engine clutch open or stay closed ?
I will be headed to the shop soon so won't be on here till Sunday morning. But if you like you can call me at (717) 521-4205

Clutch looks as if it may be stuck open slightly, remove the belt and spray wd40 (unless you have some Coors, haha) on the shaft where the spring is being careful not to get it on the brake disc and work the clutch by hand, it should free up. Test machine.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
          Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
