  • Used Old style drum T20-30, same as a 1997 drum?

    Hello,
Bought a used planetary drum with the number T20-30 on it from Route 6x6.
The top looks a little different where the trust washers would go then my worn out one..., I called and asked about it. He told me that thrust washers changed diameter over the years and it would work fine on my 1997 machine.

Is that true?? I am concerned about a few things I see online and the last thing I want to do after putting all this money in new bands and such to do something wrong and ruin it.
    Please advise!

    Thanks!

Measure the dimentions through the bore flat surface to flat. The old drums are approximately .060"thicker and if installed with thrust washers it will be locked up. If they both measure the same you are good to go. Curious as to what Richard is charging for used drums now?

      That's just great...
He gets 195$ Before shipping for what appears to be the wrong hub.
Where else can I get the right one? I need to measure it tobe sure but it sure looks a whisker thicker....
How many different one are there?
He told me it would work, but I can't be ruining gaskets and have the trans lock up when the whole thing is back together.
I'm sure I can't just not put thrust washers in??

On EBay these old style hubs are 35$....
      Thanks again for any info!

there are only 2 types. real early ones didn't use thrust washers at all. The difference is the thickness of two planet gear thrust washers. Approximately 1/16". It will be easy to measure the difference if it is a non thrust washer model.
