Is there an external way to tell how many teeth are on the shift collar?

There's no easy way that I know of, unless the number on the case will tell you. I don't know if the teeth are at all visible if you pull the diamond shifter out.....probably not but it may be worth trying. I guess you could also try taking a piece of stiff wire and snake it in through the shifter hole and see if you can feel the teeth well enough to count them.

Yeah, I'm not sure about about that, but I may give it a try. The problem with hoping the case numbers will tell the story is my T-20 has clearly been apart at least once, and who knows if it has original drums, and shift collars, in it. I may forgo the gym tonight and make a hard push to get the transmission out and apart tonight.
Hmm, now that I think about it, I have an endoscope that plugs into my phone and I think it came with a 90ยบ mirror attachment, I bet I could stick it down in the hole and have a look? If I can find the attachments.....
